W\u00e4hrend der Kolonialzeit war die Stadt die Sommerresidenz der Briten, die versuchten, dem extrem feuchten und hei\u00dfen Sommerwetter in Kolkata zu entkommen, und ihre Zeit hoch oben in den Bergen verbrachten.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Seit dieser Zeit ist Darjeeling ein wichtiges Touristenziel geblieben, das von Menschen aus ganz Indien und dem Ausland besucht wird. Die Stadt hat sich im Laufe des letzten Jahrhunderts stark ver\u00e4ndert und ist heute ein lebhafter, dicht besiedelter Ort. Die H\u00e4user in Darjeeling wurden entlang der Bergh\u00e4nge im Schatten des m\u00e4chtigen Kanchenjunga gebaut, des dritth\u00f6chsten Berges der Welt. Von verschiedenen Orten in Darjeeling aus kann man die Sch\u00f6nheit und Gr\u00f6\u00dfe des Kanchenjunga bewundern. &nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Das \"Himalayan Mountaineering Institute\" ist eine weitere historische Attraktion, da es mit weltber\u00fchmten Namen wie Tenzing Norgay und Nawang Gombu (dem ersten Menschen, der den Mount Everest zweimal bestieg) in Verbindung gebracht wird. Das Institut ist auch heute noch sehr aktiv und f\u00fchrt Trainingskurse f\u00fcr Expeditionen und Bergbesteigungen durch. Man kann auch das hervorragende Museum besuchen, das zu dem Institut geh\u00f6rt.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Ich habe Darjeeling schon oft im Winter besucht und wegen der extremen K\u00e4lte ist das Licht in dieser Jahreszeit besonders sch\u00f6n: blauer Himmel, kristallklare Luft und eine F\u00fclle von Farben. Im Dezember beginnen die Tage in den Bergen etwas sp\u00e4ter als im Sommer und die Sonne geht erst gegen 6.30 Uhr morgens auf. During the colonial era the city was the summer residence for the British, who tried to escape the extremely humid and hot summer weather in Kolkata and spend their time high up in the mountains. Since then Darjeeling has remained as an important tourist destination with people coming from all over India as well as from abroad. The town has changed a lot over the last century and today it is a busy, densely populated place with lots of buildings all over the mountain slopes in the lap of the mighty Kanchenjunga, the third highest mountain in the world. One can enjoy the beauty and the size of the Kanchenjunga range from various points in Darjeeling. &nbsp; The Himalayan Mountaineering Institute is another historical attraction, as it is associated with world-famous names like Tenzing Norgay, Nawang Gombu (the first man to climb Mt. Everest twice). The institute is very much active today conducting trainings for expeditions and mountaineering. One can also visit the excellent museum attached with the institute. I visited Darjeeling many times during winter and because of the extreme cold the light is different during this time of the year with blue skies, crystal-clear air and an abundance of colors. In December, the days in the mountains start a little bit later than in summer and the sun rises at around 6.30 in the morning.
